Police in Abuja have arrested a 22-year-old man, Mustapha Aliyu, for allegedly beheading four children.

The children – three boys and one girl – were said to have been beheaded in various villages in the outskirts of Abuja.

Mr Aliyu was alleged to have confessed that he was paid N170,000 for the head of each of his male victims while he was paid N160,000 for the female head.

The suspect was allegedly on a mission for the fifth head when he was arrested.

During his parade on Friday, Abuja police commissioner, Bala Ciroma, said that the suspect admitted that his victims were taken from Sheda, Kwali, Kilankwa, Gwako and Leleyi villages, in Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

“On 19th May, 2019 at about 1430hrs following a distress call police operatives arrested one Mustapha Aliyu ‘M’ 22 Years in possession of a freshly severed head of a 3 years old boy who was later identified as Usman Awalu of Rugan Fulani close to Leleyi village in Kwali Area Council.

“The suspect confessed that prior to his arrest, he has beheaded four children and gave their heads to his master who is now at large,” Mr Ciroma said.

The suspect said he got involved in the killings when he approached a man he identified as Mallam Yahaya because he was stranded and needed N7,000 for his education.

He said the man used black magic on him to get him to kill people in return for money.
