Tinubu returns to Abuja after Eid holiday in Lagos

President Bola Tinubu has returned to Abuja after spending the Eid-el-Kabir holiday in Lagos, where he took part in political, official and diplomatic engagements.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday by his special adviser on information and strategy Bayo Onanuga, the president arrived at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at 5:17 p.m.

He was received by Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Inspector-General of Police Tunji Disu and other government officials.

During the Sallah period, President Tinubu received Vice President Kashim Shettima and members of the Senate leadership led by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

He also hosted members of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum led by its chairman and Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

Other visitors included APC stakeholders from Oyo State led by the party’s governorship candidate Sharafadeen Alli, as well as APC candidates for the House of Representatives and Lagos State House of Assembly.

On Monday, the president attended the International Fleet Review at Eko Atlantic City in Lagos as part of activities marking the 70th anniversary of the Nigerian Navy.

During the event, he commissioned three naval vessels – NNS Oloibiri, NNS Mambila and NNS Gurara.

Tinubu also met with President Romuald Wadagni of the Republic of Benin. The meeting focused on relations between both countries, regional cooperation and economic ties.

Before the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations, the president participated in the All Progressives Congress (APC) nationwide direct primary election held on May 23.

He voted at his Ward L2 polling unit in Ikoyi-Obalende, Lagos and later emerged as the party’s candidate for the 2027 presidential election.

According to APC figures, Tinubu polled 10,999,162 votes, while his challenger Stanley Osifo received 16,503 votes.
