Former Southampton FC and Royal Antwerp FC forward Victor Udoh has died at the age of 21.
According to reports by Mirror UK on Tuesday, Udoh was found dead in Abuja under what was described as suspicious circumstances. The cause of death has not been confirmed.
Udoh recently returned to Nigeria after his spell with Czech club SK Dynamo České Budějovice ended. He joined the club after leaving Southampton in 2025.
Southampton announced his death in a post on X.
“We are devastated by the tragic passing of former player Victor Udoh at the age of 21,” the club said.
“The thoughts of everyone at the club go out to Victor’s loved ones at this extremely difficult time.”
Victor Udoh spent about six months with Southampton’s academy and featured for the club’s under-21 side in Premier League 2 matches.
Before moving to England, he played for Belgian club Royal Antwerp after joining from Abuja-based Hypebuzz Academy.
He scored 12 goals in 27 matches for Antwerp’s reserve side and later made 28 appearances for the first team.
Royal Antwerp also reacted to his death.
“With great dismay, RAFC has learned of the passing of former player Victor Udoh,” the club said.
“Our thoughts are with Victor’s family, friends, and loved ones.”
