Nollywood actress Scarlet Gomez has opened up about the emotional demands of filming Behind The Scenes, describing some of the scenes as difficult to perform.
Speaking in an interview with The Sun, the actress said the role, which earned her a nomination at the 2026 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), required her to immerse herself deeply in the character’s emotions.
“Uh, the emotional scenes were very challenging to shoot. Having to put myself in that headspace and make it as believable as possible. It was really tough,” she said.
Scarlet admitted she was surprised by the response the film received and still finds it hard to believe the impact her performance had on viewers.
Scarlet said, “I didn’t believe it, and I still can’t. I see many tell me they cried, and I’m like, ‘Did I do that?’ I’m just grateful to God that they could feel what I wanted them to feel, and it’s amazing. The reaction of movie lovers to Behind The Scenes left me gratefully speechless.”
Asked if the role was the most challenging of her career, she said: “I won’t say ever, but it was challenging.”
The actress also revealed that audiences can expect more projects from her before the end of the year.
She said, “I have a lot in store for my fans and movie lovers. I don’t want to let the cat out of the bag, but at the end of the year, about three projects should be dropping.
“Different movie genres, in which I will play different characters.”
On whether she intends to venture into film production, Scarlet said, “Not everybody is meant to be a producer.”
She also spoke about her marriage to music producer Temi Gomez, saying he is comfortable with the nature of her work and trusts her completely.
“I married a man, not a boy. He doesn’t care. He doesn’t have a small ego, and he trusts me. We have been married for nine years.”
Scarlet added that her husband may become more involved in entertainment in the future, although music remains his main focus.
“I think he’s already in it, one way or the other. You guys will find out soon, but music is really his thing,” she said.
The actress said she has no regrets about pursuing a career in acting.
She said, “Regrets so far? No. I’m right where I’m supposed to be, and I’m grateful to God.”
While she believes actors should be willing to take on different kinds of roles, she admitted there is one role she would rather avoid.
Scarlet added, “It’s not actually about the money, I am an actress, it’s make-believe, it’s not real. An actor should be a blank canvas; you should be able to allow yourself to be moulded into different things. I think the only thing that would scare me is acting with snakes; I hate them.”
Reflecting on how she entered the industry, Scarlet said acting was never part of her original plan.
She said, “It was actually a means to an end. I didn’t think I would end up taking up acting as a career. Back then, I just wanted to make some money. I stumbled on Nollywood and fell in love with it. That was around 2012-2013.”
Scarlet, a former beauty queen, rose to prominence after winning the Miss United Nations Tourism pageant in 2012. She later built a career in Nollywood and became widely known for her lead role in the Showmax series Wura. She has since featured in several films and television productions, including Behind The Scenes, which earned her an AMVCA nomination in 2026.
