Yahaya Bello

The immediate-past commissioner for special duties in Kogi State Yahaya Ismail has died just days after Governor Yahaya Bello dissolved the cabinet.

Ismail died on Monday evening, according to a statement on Tuesday by the chief press secretary (CPS) to the governor, Onogwu Muhammad.

Bello dissolved his cabinet last week ahead of the inauguration of the governor-elect Ahmed Ododo.

The deceased was buried on Tuesday according to Islamic rites in his hometown of Aiyegunle Gbede in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi.

In the statement by his CPS, Bello expressed profound grief over what he called the “untimely death” of Ismail.

He said Ismail was not just a dedicated member of his cabinet but also an unwavering friend who stood steadfastly by his side throughout his political journey.

“A trustworthy man who lived for Allah and humanity with immeasurable love and compassion to all,” he stated.

Bello acknowledged Ismail’s invaluable contributions to the growth and development of both his community and the entire state and beyond.
