Actress Mercy Johnson-Okojie has expressed pride in her husband Prince Okojie following his victory in the APC primary election.

Okojie announced the development on Instagram on Sunday, thanking party leaders, supporters and members of his constituency for their support as he secured the ticket to contest for another term in the House of Representatives.

He also appreciated Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo and the All Progressives Congress (APC) for giving him the opportunity to fly the party’s flag in the forthcoming election.

“Today, I am deeply humbled and honoured to emerge victorious in the APC primary election. I sincerely thank the Executive Governor of Edo State, His Excellency Sen. Monday Okpebholo and our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), for the confidence reposed in me to fly the party’s flag in the forthcoming election to return to the National Assembly.

“My profound appreciation also goes to the leaders of our party, members, supporters, and the good people of our constituency for your trust, encouragement, and overwhelming support throughout this process. This victory is not mine alone; it belongs to all of us who believe in purposeful leadership, unity, progress, and effective representation.

“I remain committed to serving our people with dedication, loyalty, and integrity. Together, we will continue to build a stronger future for our constituency and uphold the ideals of our great party.

“As we move forward, I call on everyone to remain united and focused as we work collectively towards victory in the general election.

“Thank you all, and may God bless you abundantly.”

Reacting in the comment section, Mercy praised her husband and assured him of the people’s support.

“You have done well, and the people are with you always,” she wrote.

During the 2023 House of Representatives election, Mercy actively campaigned for her husband across the constituency. After his victory, the actress shared videos of their celebration on social media, while Okojie publicly praised her support throughout his political journey.

The actress has also become more involved in public service in recent months. In February, Governor Monday Okpebholo appointed her special adviser on public engagement and Aladvocacy in Edo State.

Before the Edo appointment, Mercy served as senior special assistant on entertainment, arts and culture to former Kogi State governor Yahaya Bello in 2017.
