Nigerian mixed martial artist Wasi Adeshina will fight before a home crowd on Saturday when he takes on Spain’s Nacho Campos in the main event of PFL Africa’s first event in West Africa.
The bout, scheduled for the Eko Convention Centre in Lagos, headlines a card that will also feature the opening rounds of the PFL Africa bantamweight and lightweight tournaments.
Adeshina, known as The Nigerian Jaguar, enters the contest as the inaugural PFL Africa featherweight champion. The 29-year-old is on a six-fight winning streak and holds a professional record of 10 wins and three losses.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Adeshina said he is not feeling pressure despite competing in front of fans in his home city.
He added that he would separate emotions from business once the cage door closes and expressed confidence that he would have reason to celebrate with Lagos fans after the fight.
His opponent Campos has won seven of his nine professional fights and comes into the contest following a victory over Mathys Duragrin at PFL Madrid last month.
The co-main event will see Nigeria’s Patrick Ocheme face Cameroon’s Octave Ayinda in a lightweight tournament first-round contest.
Ocheme, who is on a six-fight winning streak, will be looking to advance in the competition in front of a home crowd, while Ayinda seeks a place in the next round.
Other Nigerian fighters on the card include Yahaya Yahuza, who will face Cameroon’s Jordan Fongno and bantamweight fighter Raphael Uchegbu.
Cornel Thompson is also set to compete in the lightweight tournament, taking on Congolese fighter Tsilomba Mikixi.
Thompson enters the bout on a four-fight winning streak.
In the women’s showcase contest, Nigerian strawweight fighter Juliet Ukah will meet Brazil’s Elisandra Ferreira.
Ukah is ranked among the leading female mixed martial artists in the Middle East and Africa region.
The main card will also feature a bout between Algeria’s Karim Henniene and South Africa’s Thimna Mhlauli.
PFL Africa managing director Elias Schulze described the Lagos event as an important step in the promotion’s expansion across the continent.
“Making our West African debut in Lagos is a major milestone for PFL Africa, and one we’re incredibly excited about,” he said.
“Nigeria brings incredible passion, culture, and talent, and Lagos is the perfect stage for this moment. The energy from the fans, the depth of local talent, and the opportunity to showcase it all on a global platform make this event truly special.”
Schulze added that PFL Africa is working with grassroots trainers across Nigeria and other African countries to identify fighters who can join the organisation’s growing roster.
Saturday’s event marks the second stop of the 2026 PFL Africa season following its launch in Pretoria, South Africa, in April.
