President Bola Tinubu has said the sacrifices Nigerians made under his administration’s economic reforms are beginning to produce results.
In his Eid-el-Kabir message to Muslims in Nigeria and across the world, President Tinubu said the country had passed through a difficult period but was now moving towards stability and growth.
“Just as sacrifice brings reward, I am happy that the sacrifices and efforts we have made over the past three years have yielded a more stable economy, making our country a preferred investment destination that will drive job creation and economic growth. The walk through the dark tunnel is over, and the light is here,” he said.
The president said the reforms introduced by his administration were necessary to rebuild the economy and create opportunities for Nigerians.
According to him, the government’s policies would continue to improve security and economic conditions across the country.
“By the Grace of God, the reforms we have diligently pursued will continue to yield improved security and greater opportunities for all,” he added.
Tinubu, however, acknowledged that insecurity remained a challenge in some parts of the country.
He said terrorists and bandits were still attacking communities despite efforts by security agencies and recent operations against criminal groups.
The president referred to a joint Nigeria-United States operation that led to the killing of ISIS leader Abu-Bilal al-Manuki in the Lake Chad Basin.
“I am aware that, despite the best efforts of our security and intelligence agencies, including the recent elimination of a wanted ISIS leader, heartless terrorists and bandits still attack some communities.
“I assure you: you are neither abandoned nor forgotten. We will ultimately defeat all the forces of evil,” he said.
Tinubu urged Nigerians to use the Eid-el-Kabir celebration to pray for peace and support one another, especially the less privileged.
Meanwhile, Senate President Godswill Akpabio called on Nigerians to embrace sacrifice, unity and national renewal during the celebration.
Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin also urged Nigerians to pray for peace and support the federal government.
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in his Sallah message, asked Nigerians to reflect on the lessons of sacrifice and patience associated with the festival.
