President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Rangers International FC on winning the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League title.
In a statement issued on Monday by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu congratulated the club’s management, players and supporters for winning the league title for the ninth time.
Rangers finished the season with 68 points from 38 matches, ahead of Rivers United.
The president recalled the club’s performances in the 1970s and 1980s, including reaching the final of the African Cup of Champions Clubs in 1975 and winning the African Cup Winners’ Cup in 1977.
Tinubu also congratulated Governor Peter Mbah, saying the victory reflected investments in youth and sports in Enugu State.
“As one of the oldest clubs in Nigeria, Rangers have produced some of the nation’s finest football players who went on to make the country proud on the global stage. I am proud of their achievement,” the president said.
He also commended Rivers United for their performance during the league season and wished both clubs success in next season’s CAF Champions League.
