I’m aware that Nigerians are still struggling – Tinubu

Bola Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu has said many Nigerians are still facing economic hardship and security concerns.

He made the remarks on Sunday in Abuja after accepting the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential ticket for the 2027 election.

President Tinubu said his administration is aware of rising prices and economic pressure on citizens.
“Many Nigerians continue to face challenges with increasing prices and changes in the economy,” he said.

He added that government decisions are based on current conditions in the country.
“We see these concerns and lead not from a place of ease, but from a true understanding of the situation,” he said.

The president also said security challenges remain in parts of the country despite ongoing military operations.

“I recognize that there are still security challenges facing some areas of our great country,” he said.

He said government has invested in intelligence gathering, surveillance and security equipment, and is working on what he described as the causes of insecurity.

Tinubu also called on the National Assembly to consider the creation of state police as an urgent national matter.

He said his administration will focus on economic growth, industrial development, energy supply, food production and democratic processes if given another term.

The president acknowledged the impact of reforms introduced since 2023, including fuel subsidy removal and foreign exchange changes.
He said his government has introduced programmes such as student loans, tax reforms and infrastructure projects.

According to him, more than N282 billion has been disbursed to about 1.5 million students under the student loan scheme.

Tinubu urged Nigerians to remain engaged in the political process and said the 2027 election should reflect democratic maturity.
