Omoni Oboli hints at another Wives on Strike movie

Actress-filmmakerOmoni Oboli has hinted at producing a third part of her hit film Wives on Strike.

The 43-year-old threw the question at her fans on Instagram on Tuesday as she celebrated International Women’s Day.

Uploading the movie trailer, the actress wrote: “Happy international women’s day my amazing, hardworking, goal-digging women. I see you…I love you.

“In my journey as a filmmaker, unwittingly, most of my movies have centered around women empowerment so here’s me asking you guys…who wants the women back? Are you ready for a Wives On Strike 3?!!! Drop some fire if you are.”

In 2017, Omoni said she shot Wives on Strike: The Revolution because “domestic violence is on the rise”.

Premiered on December 23 at FilmHouse Cinema, Lekki, the movie is a sequel to 2016 Wives on Strike.

The first installment, which grossed N71million at the cinema, treats the subject of child marriage.

Encouraged by the box office success of Wives on Strike, the 39-year-old actress, director and producer shot Wives on Strike: The Revolution in 2017.

Speaking with QedTV at the movie premiere, Omoni said: “I thought why not make another Wives on Strike movie but this time addressing domestic violence and the role of women in governance.”

Wives on Strike: The Revolution stars Omoni, Uche Jombo, Chioma Akpotha, Ufuoma McDermott, Kenneth Okonkwo, Julius Agwu and Kalu Ikeagwu from the first movie.

Sola Sobowale, Odunlade Adekola, Chigul and Toyin Abraham joined the cast with Chidinma Ekile providing a song titled ‘Gone Forever’.
