Nile Entertainment and Paramount Pictures have entered a West Africa distribution partnership for Children of Blood and Bone, featuring Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD) and other stars.
The news was shared on Nile’s official Instagram page on Friday.
The post read, “Paramount Pictures and Nile Entertainment have entered a West Africa distribution partnership for ‘Children of Blood and Bone.’
“This followed the preview of the first footage from the film at the 2026 CinemaCon, giving exhibitors an early look ahead of its theatrical rollout.
“The deal covers the theatrical release across West Africa, including key markets such as Nigeria and Ghana, ahead of its global release.
“Directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, the film is based on the bestselling novel by Tomi Adeyemi and stars Thuso Mbedu, Amandla Stenberg, Damson Idris, Viola Davis, Idris Elba, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Richard Mofe Damijo, Ayra Starr, Pamilerin Ayodeji, Ayra Starr and Tosin Cole.
“The West Africa rollout marks a key step in bringing the fantasy epic’s Orïsha universe closer to its cultural roots.”
In another post they wrote, “Let the orisa era begin.… this isn’t just a movie drop, this is a cultural moment. Children of Blood and Bone is finally coming home and the world can’t wait. Distributed by @thenileentertainment 🔥”
This comes after Nile Entertainment was appointed the exclusive theatrical distribution partner for Universal Pictures and Paramount Pictures across West Africa in February.
Children of Blood and Bone is adapted from Adeyemi’s 2018 novel, the first in the Legacy of Orïsha trilogy. The story follows a young woman, Zélie, on a quest to restore magic to her people in the kingdom of Orïsha, drawing from Yoruba mythology and West African culture.
The film has attracted attention for its international cast and African inspired fantasy setting. Its preview at CinemaCon in 2026 marked the first public showing of footage ahead of its global theatrical release.
