NFF celebrates AFCON 2013 hero, Sunday Mba, on 31st birthday

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has celebrated midfielder, Sunday Mba, on his 31st birthday.

Mba scored the winning goal which gave Nigeria the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title under former coach, late Stephen Keshi.

In a tweet on Thursday, the NFF wished him a happy birthday.

“Happy birthday 2013 Afcon winner, Sunday Mba,” the tweet read.

The midfielder told BBC Sport in an interview published in October that he was hopeful he would get back to competitive football.

Mba had not played competitively since he was released by Turkish club Yeni Malatyaspor in September 2017.

”My desire is to get back into club football and I am working hard to start playing again.

“Football is everything I have and I cannot just give up. I believe there’s something out there for me,” he said.

Mba has scored three goals in 16 appearances for the Super Eagles.
