Skitmaker and influencer Cute Abiola has sparked mixed reactions after sharing a detailed video documenting his wife’s childbirth surgery, raising debate around privacy and monetisation of personal experiences.

The video, which runs for over an hour on Youtube, was uploaded on Tuesday. It showed the couple’s journey from preparation before surgery to recovery after the delivery. In one of the emotional moments on April 4, the day of the procedure, Cute Abiola is seen outside the theatre, visibly distressed as he prayed for his wife’s safety.

“So my wife is in the theatre already… I beg you God, please. I wish my wife safe delivery. I wish she comes out well. There should be no complications,” he said, his voice trembling.

After the procedure, he later announced the birth of their child.

“We deliver a bouncing baby boy… Glory be to God. Alhamdulillah,” he said, expressing gratitude.

Despite the outcome, the video has drawn criticism online, with many users questioning the decision to film and share such a private medical moment.

A user identified as Odibo Azenabo (#otunbaodibo) shared a similar personal experience, expressing gratitude for a safe outcome.

“Same way I watched my wife on Saturday in the theatre battling for her life. Thank God it was a success after 4 hours baby alive, mother alive, father and siblings rejoicing.”

Another user, BRANKY (#Michaelsbrankyy), described the emotional strain of such experiences.

“As a man, if you’ve not experienced this… having your wife in the theatre fighting for her life and the life of your baby, it’s mixed feelings. I cried like a baby that day,” Branky said.

However, several users criticised the decision to record and publish the moment.

Naija Intel (#9jaintelligence) questioned the intent behind the content, saying, “One of your hardest moments and you still hired a videographer… now you’re asking us to go watch it on YouTube?”

OBA MAKANAKI 06 (#tolumakanaki) also reacted, saying, “Imagine what you are recording and posting… why are you using a natural process to make money?”

Similarly, Dr. lag_uncle (M.O.N) (#Barry_sneh) criticised the trend of monetising personal experiences.

“Nothing wey una no dey monetise… like say women for our own family never go through similar procedures.”

Another user, Ọmọ Ògùn (#bissiriyu), wrote, “You still used your wife’s delivery in the theatre as content… I no understand anymore.”

The video continues to generate discussion around the boundaries of content creation, especially when it involves medical procedures and childbirth.
