Actress and filmmaker Mercy Aigbe has hosted former President Olusegun Obasanjo and businessman Farooq Oreagba at a private screening of her upcoming movie Iwe Ala (An Ojude Oba Story).

The filmmaker shared a video on Instagram showing herself, Obasanjo and Oreagba dancing as they made their entrance to the event.

In the caption, she wrote: “Private Screening of our movie IWE ALA ( An Ojude Oba Story ) for His Excellency former president of the federal of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, some his friends and his Excos! IWE ALA opens in all cinemas nationwide from June 12 , 2026…. The movie is scheduled for release in cinemas nationwide on June 12. It is inspired by the Ojude Oba cultural festival in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State.

The screening comes days after the 2026 Ojude Oba festival was held in Ijebu Ode. The annual event attracted thousands of visitors, cultural groups, dignitaries and tourists who gathered to celebrate the heritage of the Ijebu people through traditional attire, horse riding displays and age grade processions known as Regberegbe.

This year’s edition was themed “Celebrating the Legacy of Oba Sikiru Adetona” and was the first festival held since the death of the late Awujale of Ijebuland.

Ojude Oba, which means “the king’s forecourt,” is celebrated annually on the third day after Eid al Kabir. It is regarded as one of Nigeria’s biggest cultural festivals and serves as an occasion for sons and daughters of Ijebuland to pay homage to the Awujale while showcasing culture, fashion and tradition.
