Farooq Oreagba returns to Ojude Oba 2026 in signature style

Managing director and chief executive officer of NG Clearing Limited, Farooq Oreagba, made another appearance at the Ojude Oba Festival on Friday, continuing the style statement that first drew national attention in 2024.

The businessman arrived dressed in a white agbada with heavy geometric embroidery in deep purple and gold across the chest. He paired the outfit with a matching purple fila gobi cap, layered gold chains, sunglasses and a luxury wristwatch. He also wore black riding gloves while holding his signature unlit cigar.

Oreagba became a social media sensation during the 2024 edition of the festival after videos and photos showed him riding a decorated horse in a green and lemon coloured agbada while smoking a cigar. The appearance earned him the nickname “King of Steeze” online and brought wider attention to the annual cultural event.

Following the viral moment, the National Council for Arts and Culture named him an honorary cultural ambassador in July 2024. NCAC director general Obi Asika said Oreagba helped bring global attention to the Ojude Oba Festival and Yoruba culture.

Oreagba, an Ijebu indigene, has also spoken publicly about his battle with cancer. In interviews after his rise to fame, he revealed he was diagnosed in 2014 and later underwent treatment including a bone marrow transplant.

The Ojude Oba Festival is held annually in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, usually a few days after Eid al Adha. The event brings together age grade groups known as regberegbe, horse riders, cultural performers and members of the Ijebu community to pay homage to the Awujale of Ijebuland.

The festival dates back to the 19th century and has grown into one of the most recognised cultural gatherings in Yorubaland, attracting tourists, celebrities and dignitaries from across Nigeria and beyond.
