Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) has said the issues between Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and the Olubadan of Ibadanland Oba Rashidi Ladoja have been resolved.
The group made this known in a statement signed by its president-general Sulaimon Ajewole and made available on Sunday by its publicity secretary Kola Olomide.
The statement followed reports of a disagreement between the governor and the monarch, including claims of a plan to remove the Olubadan and another to impeach the governor.
According to the group, the issues were addressed through dialogue and traditional conflict resolution methods in Ibadan.
“The issues between Governor Makinde and the Olubadan have been resolved, and the external forces that attempted to create a crisis around the situation have been defeated,” the statement said.
It added, “Nobody is planning to impeach Governor Makinde, and nobody is also planning to remove the Olubadan from his throne.”
The group said elders and stakeholders in Ibadan met with the parties involved and provided an opportunity for discussions.
It said the situation was handled internally without the need for outside involvement and urged residents to remain calm.
The council also called on individuals and groups to avoid actions that could lead to tension, stating that Ibadan has the structure to manage its affairs.
It added that it would continue to support efforts aimed at maintaining peace in the city.
