Actor Kolawole Ajeyemi has joined calls for urgent action following the killing of kidnapped teacher Michael Oyedokun in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

Oyedokun, a teacher at Community High School, Ahoro-Esinele, was reportedly killed by his abductors days after gunmen attacked schools in the community and kidnapped teachers and pupils.

A video allegedly released by the kidnappers on Sunday showed the teacher tied up before he was killed. The video surfaced on Telegram on Monday.

The incident has sparked concern over the safety of other victims still in captivity, with residents, families and indigenes urging security agencies and the Oyo State Government to intensify rescue efforts.

Reacting on Instagram on Monday, Kolawole, husband of actress Toyin Abraham, shared a video showing some of the captives pleading for help.

He wrote, “OGBOMOSO people need help please @seyi_amakinde @officialasiwajubat 💔💔😢😢”

The actor who is an indegene of the state later shared another video of the deceased teacher, captioning it, “Haaaa this is too much they killed this man 😢😢@seyi_amakinde @officialasiwajubat 💔💔💔💔💔💔💔 OGBOMOSO need help Nigerian is bleeding please @officialasiwajubat 💔💔😢😢”

Other celebrities and social media users have also called on the government to strengthen security and secure the release of the remaining captives.

The attack occurred last Friday at Community Grammar School and LA School in Ahoro-Esinele community. The Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board confirmed that a teacher was killed during the attack while several pupils and teachers were abducted.

Governor Seyi Makinde on Sunday confirmed that seven teachers were abducted during the incident and that one of them had been killed in captivity. He said the government was working with security agencies to rescue those still being held.

The Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has also visited the affected communities and ordered intensified rescue operations in the area.
