Keep your head up, Seyi Tinubu encourages Cubana Chief Priest after defeat

Seyi Tinubu

Seyi Tinubu has encouraged businessman Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, to remain hopeful after he failed to secure the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for the Orsu/Orlu/Oru East Federal Constituency seat in Imo State.

Cubana Chief Priest contested in the APC primary election held on Saturday ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The socialite, who serves as Imo State coordinator of the City Boy Movement, had earlier purchased the party’s expression of interest and nomination forms.

He said his decision to contest was driven by his interest in youth empowerment, grassroots development and increased political participation among young people in the constituency.

However, he lost the ticket to the incumbent lawmaker representing the constituency, Canice Nwachukwu, after polling 14 votes.

Reacting to the outcome on Sunday through his Instagram story, Tinubu urged him not to be discouraged.

“Bro, sometimes by losing a battle, you find a new way to win the war. Keep your head up @cubana_chiefpriest. We know what you are capable of achieving,” he wrote.

Cubana Chief Priest later reposted the message on his Instagram page.

The businessman also reacted to the result in a video circulating online, saying he had no regrets contesting the election.

“I’m a hustler, and I didn’t regret trying to contest for a position. My only regret was trusting the elders in the community,” he said.

“I know how much I gave them, but only 14 people voted for me in the primary.”

The APC primaries have continued across the country ahead of the 2027 general elections, with several politicians and public figures seeking party tickets for different positions.
