Actress Linda Ejiofor has spoken about a period in her career when she felt her progress in Nollywood had stopped before going on to achieve major success at the 2026 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).

In an interview with Nolywire conducted by her husband and actor Ibrahim Suleiman, Linda said she struggled with doubts about her career three years ago.

“Three years ago, I thought my career was stagnant and not going anywhere, and I asked God for something, anything. And He gave me two beautiful stories,” she said.

She also credited her husband for supporting and encouraging her during the difficult period.

“I am so grateful to God, grateful to my husband because he stood by me through this. He told me that I did well in both movies. To be honest, I didn’t believe him,” she added.

Linda’s career took a major turn at the 12th AMVCA held on May 9 at Eko Hotels and Suites, Lagos, where she won Best Lead Actress for The Serpent’s Gift and Best Supporting Actress for The Herd.

Reports described her as the first actress to win both categories in the same night since the award ceremony began.

The Serpent’s Gift, directed by Kayode Kasum, is an Igbo language drama that explores family inheritance and tradition, while The Herd marked actor Daniel Etim Effiong’s feature directorial debut.

Linda began her acting career on the television series Tinsel and gained wider recognition after starring in The Meeting, a role that earned her the Best Supporting Actress prize at the 2015 AMVCA.
