Socialite and businessman Pascal Okechukwu, known as Cubana Chief Priest, has lost the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the Orsu, Orlu and Oru East federal constituency seat in the House of Representatives ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He was defeated by the incumbent lawmaker, Canice Nwachukwu, who is currently serving a second term in the National Assembly.
Cubana had declared his intention to contest the seat in April after purchasing the All Progressives Congress expression of interest and nomination forms.
During a meeting with aspirants ahead of the primary, Imo State governor Hope Uzodinma did not endorse any candidate, but urged them to test their popularity at the grassroots.
Cubana, a former aide to the governor, has been publicly supportive of the ruling All Progressives Congress and President Bola Tinubu.
He currently serves as the Imo State director of the City Boy Movement, a youth group supporting Tinubu’s re election campaign.
His loss means the incumbent lawmaker will represent the party in the 2027 House of Representatives election for the constituency.
