Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele, has been arrested for hosting a birthday party for her husband, JJC Skillz, on Saturday amidst the lockdown put in place in Lagos State by the government to control the coronavirus pandemic.

This was contained in a statement by the Police Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command, Bala Elkana, released on Sunday.

The statement reads: “Attention of Lagos State Police Command was drawn to a viral video showing a large number of persons mainly in the entertainment industry in an Estate, along Ajah, Ibeju-Lekki axis, Lagos celebrating a birthday party organised by Funke Akindele Bello and her husband.

“Police detectives from the State CID Yaba were promptly drafted to the location. Funke Akindele was arrested. Investigation is ongoing, efforts are intensified to arrest the remaining persons in the video, among whom are Azeez Fashola a.k.a Naira Marley and Abdul Rasheed Bello a.k.a. JJC Skillz. They are in their best interests urged to report at the State CID Yaba on Monday 6th April, 2020 or risk being declared wanted.”

The 42-year-old actress had earlier on Sunday apologised for hosting the party.

In a video she posted on Instagram, she also explained that most of the guests at the party were staff of her production company who had decided to stay with her after the lockdown was announced.

“…I will not intentionally mislead people… I want to explain what happened yesterday…Truly yesterday was my husband’s birthday. We both run Scene One studios… Before the pandemic, we all worked together before the lockdown…Some youths have been here rehearsing. The majority are the ones you saw in the video…I am sorry if I misled you…,” she said.
