Filmmaker Toyin Abraham has appealed to her supporters to stop attacking her former protégé, Pelumi Olawuni, popularly known as Abika Shugaa, amid their ongoing public dispute.

In a Snapchat video shared on Monday, Toyin addressed her fan base, known as Toyin Titans, asking them to forgive Abike Shugaa and move on from the controversy.

“Please, to everybody, it’s okay. Please forgive her,” she said.

“There is no one that cannot get angry. Even Jesus was angry… let everything slide. This is a new week. Toyin Titans, no distractions, please,” she added.

Toyin said her focus remains on upcoming projects, including several YouTube releases and a major production planned for December.

“We have a big task ahead of us. We have a lot of YouTube movies coming, and we have a bigger task ahead of us in December,” she said.

She also referenced the backlash she faced in 2023 and 2024 after supporting President Bola Tinubu, stating that critics targeted her during that period.

“For those asking why I didn’t spill the tea in 2023 and 2024… they were bashing me that period, they wanted to kill me,” she said.

Toyin added that the situation has changed her approach to relationships and boundaries.

“You said create boundaries, I will create boundaries. You said I should stop helping people, no problem. I have learnt my lesson, her too has learnt hers. Let it slide, let us change the topic,” she said.

The dispute gained attention after Abike posted a video on Friday detailing their relationship and its breakdown, with allegations of control, betrayal and threats, which Toyin has denied. The video has since crossed 100,000 views.

On Sunday, Abike disclosed that YouTube flagged parts of the video over privacy concerns, giving her the option to edit or remove sections. She claimed critics organised mass reports against the content.

Tensions had earlier increased after Abike accepted a PR package from Funke Akindele for the film A Tribe Called Judah, which she said she communicated beforehand.

While Abike says she is sharing her side after years of silence, Toyin has declined to respond point by point, maintaining that she will not engage in a prolonged public exchange.
