How kissing scenes ruined my relationship — Sandra Okunzuwa

Actress Sandra Okunzuwa has opened up about how romantic scenes in movies once affected her personal life and led to the end of a relationship.

Speaking in an interview on the BTS Reality Show, Sandra said many people wrongly assume actors enjoy kissing scenes on set, whereas the reality is often uncomfortable because of the production environment and the number of people present during filming.

“If you have twenty people watching you while kissing in the movie, it is impossible to enjoy it,” she stated.

According to her, actors are usually focused on delivering the scene professionally rather than building any emotional connection.

“It is impossible to get in the mood,” she added.

Sandra also said she would support removing kissing scenes from films if audiences could still appreciate movies without them. She noted that such scenes can sometimes create tension in relationships outside work.

Recalling one experience, the actress said a former boyfriend became upset after seeing a clip of her kissing another actor in a movie, and the situation eventually damaged the relationship.

“These things affect our personal relationships. For instance, I had to leave a relationship because of this,” she revealed.

Speaking further on relationships involving actresses, Sandra admitted dating within the entertainment industry can be difficult.

“It is hard; it is not easy. I do not blame people who say they cannot date actresses because it is not everyone who can take certain things,” she said.

Sandra, who is also a lawyer, joined Nollywood in 2018 after attending an audition with a friend. She later trained at the Royal Arts Academy and has featured in films such as Something Like Gold, The Wildflower and Honey Money. She also produced Something Like Gold, which was released in cinemas in 2023.
