Filmmaker Uche Jombo has shared what she described as an important reality about Nollywood for young filmmakers.
The 46-year-old spoke during an interview at an event in Lagos, where she reflected on the structure of the Nigerian film industry.
According to her, despite Nollywood’s global recognition and large volume of productions, the industry is more closely connected than many people realise.
“Nollywood is not as big as you think it is. It is a very small industry. It is not as big,” she said.
The actress has spent more than two decades in Nollywood, making her acting debut in 1999 in the movie Visa to Hell.
Over the years, she has built a career as an actress, producer, screenwriter and director, featuring in and producing films such as Games Men Play, Holding Hope, Damage, Lara and the Beat and Silent Scandals.
