Mahmud Sadis Buba, popularly known as Abin Al-ajabin, has withdrawn from the race to represent Sabon Gari Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives under the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a letter addressed to the APC chairman in Kaduna State and shared on his verified Facebook page on Saturday, Mr Buba said the decision followed reconciliation efforts by leaders and stakeholders of the party.

“Please accept this letter as formal notification that I am withdrawing from the race for Sabon Gari Federal Constituency, House of Representatives, effective immediately,” he wrote.

“This was not an easy decision. But it was hastened by the reconciliation efforts initiated by stakeholders and leaders of our party.”

Buba said he reached the decision after consultations with his family, political associates and party stakeholders.

“I believe that uniting behind a single candidate is paramount to our victory in the general election and for the continued progress of our constituency and state,” he added.

The former aspirant thanked Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani and the APC leadership for giving him the opportunity to participate in the nomination process.

He also thanked supporters in the constituency and within the party, saying the experience had enriched him politically.

Buba said his withdrawal should not be seen as a sign of weakness but a sacrifice for the interest of the party. He pledged support for the party’s candidate in the election and urged his supporters to remain calm and united.

The politician gained public attention during the APC screening process, with supporters describing his ambition as a symbol of political inclusion because of his dwarfism.

In an earlier interview with the BBC, Buba said he inherited dwarfism from his grandfather on his father’s side. “My condition came from my grandfather, my father’s father,” he said.

Mahmud Sadis Buba also faced controversy during the race after claims surfaced online alleging discrepancies in his age documents. He maintained that he met the constitutional age requirement to contest for the House of Representatives seat.

Before joining politics, Buba worked as a driver and currently serves as chairman of the “Tinubu-Uba Sani Agenda ’27” support group.
