Filmmaker Daniel Etim-Effiong has attracted reactions online after he shared his views on how couples should respond to infidelity in marriage.

He shared this in an interview with Nigerian digital storyteller and entrepreneur Ifedayo Agoro, Daniel said partners should approach such situations from a place of support and healing rather than anger.

He said, “The first approach to your partner cheating in a marriage should come from a place of ‘how can I help you?’”

The actor added, “If they cheat on you, they are in a problem, so you should ask yourself how you can help them get out of that problem, and then we can start healing.”

The comments sparked debate on social media, with users sharing different opinions about accountability, forgiveness and emotional responsibility in relationships.

While some agreed with his position on healing and reconciliation in marriage, others argued that infidelity should not be treated mainly as a problem for the cheating partner alone.

He is known for his roles in films and series such as Plan B, Blood Sisters, Castle and Castle and The Men’s Club. He studied chemical engineering at the Federal University of Technology, Minna before moving into filmmaking.

Daniel is married to media personality Toyosi Etim-Effiong, and they have three children.
