Actress and content creator Sophia Chisom, popularly known as Soso, has said actors are not expected to enjoy kissing scenes because such moments are part of their job.
Speaking on TVC’s E-Splash, Soso said she does not use her tongue during onscreen kisses and keeps intimate scenes strictly professional.
The actress addressed complaints from some actors who said they have never experienced a good kiss while filming.
According to her, she keeps her teeth closed and only uses her lips during kissing scenes to maintain personal boundaries.
Soso said she is conscious of who she exchanges saliva with and does not think it is appropriate to swap saliva with every co-star.
“I don’t know if people kiss with their tongues but I do not kiss with my tongue. My teeth are always close during kissing scenes so it is just the lips. But because it is an act, we have to make it believable.
“Some people kiss with their tongues but I don’t think it is okay to swap saliva with every single person that you shoot with. Besides, it is a job. So whenever I see a colleague complaining that they didn’t get a good kiss it is weird. You are not supposed to get a good kiss, it is a job,” she remarked.
Her comments come after Nollywood actors, including Saga Adeolu, said onscreen kisses are usually not pleasurable and that they have yet to experience a good kiss in the industry.
Soso and Saga have appeared together in several movie projects and have sparked reactions online over their onscreen chemistry.
Soso became known through her “pure water seller” comedy skits on social media before moving into Nollywood acting. In an earlier interview, she said she started creating skits to gain visibility and attract the attention of movie producers and directors.
