Singer Ayra Starr has responded to criticism over the outfit she wore at KOKO Electronic in London.
The event, which took place during the weekend, saw Tiwa Savage make a surprise appearance during Ayra’s performance of their hit collaboration ‘Stamina.’
Ayra shared photos from the event on social media, showing herself in an outfit that sparked debate online. While some fans praised her fashion choice, others criticised it as inappropriate.
Reacting to the backlash on social media, Ayra made it clear that she was unbothered by the comments.
She said, “Y’all relax in the comments, I’ve worn way worse, and I’m going to wear way worse, so manage your yarns”.
This is not the first time Ayra’s fashion choices have attracted public attention. The singer has repeatedly faced criticism over her stage outfits and social media posts, but she has consistently defended her right to dress as she chooses. In previous instances, fellow singer Tiwa Savage has publicly backed her amid conversations about her appearance and style.
Ayra, whose real name is Oyinkansola Aderibigbe, has become one of the leading voices of Nigeria’s new generation of Afrobeats stars. Alongside her music success, she is known for making bold fashion statements that often spark discussion online.
The London show also drew attention because of Tiwa Savage’s surprise appearance on stage. The pair performed ‘Stamina,’ the 2023 hit that also features Young Jonn, to the excitement of fans at the event.
