Billionaire businessman Femi Otedola has bought a house in London for £53 million ($72 million), according to a UK property filing.

Bloomberg reported on Thursday that the property is a 10-bedroom detached house in St John’s Wood, north-west London.

The house is within walking distance of Regent’s Park. The area has several large residential properties and is close to central London locations.

The transaction took place late last year, according to the filing.

Otedola has not made any public comment on the purchase.

St John’s Wood is also close to Lord’s Cricket Ground and other private residences.

The purchase comes amid Femi Otedola’s recent investment activity in Nigeria’s financial sector.

He earlier increased his stake in First HoldCo Plc through share purchases on the Nigerian Exchange.

He acquired 549,535,653 shares at an average price of N79 per share, raising his holding to 8,604,850,139 shares, or about 19.4 percent of the company.

First HoldCo has recorded increased trading activity following disclosures of his share purchases, with volume rising above 563 million shares in a single session.

The banking group is undergoing recapitalisation following new requirements set by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
