Singer Ayra Starr has apologised to music legend King Sunny Ade for ‘disrespecting’ him at the Afrozons-Heineken pre-Grammy party in Lagos.

A video of the 21-year-old greeting some group of persons seated with Sunny Ade at the event without a proper acknowledgement of the 77-year-old has been circulating on social media.

In the video, Ayra could be seen greeting Burna Boy’s mother Bose Ogulu and shaking hands with Sunny Ade, an act which many described as “disrespectful and inappropriate.”

Several X and Instagram users dragged the ‘Bloody Samaritan’ star on the internet, causing her to apologise for her actions.

Ayra made the apology on X on Saturday in which she stated that she later returned to greet everyone properly and would never be intentionally disrespectful.

“I’m so sorry, I had just walked in and all the lights and nerves didn’t let me see but i came back around to greet everyone properly, I have never been that girl to be disrespectful, I’m a proper Yoruba girlllll and the video didn’t start until after I’d greeted burna’s mom! I’m very sorry to the legend, uncle and King Sunny Ade,” she wrote.
