APC names Damilola Sonayon-James as Lagos deputy governorship candidate

All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced Damilola Sonayon-James as its deputy governorship candidate for the 2027 Lagos State governorship election.

Mrs Sonayon-James will run alongside the party’s governorship candidate, Obafemi Hamzat, in the poll.

An indigene of Badagry, Sonayon-James currently serves as deputy state chairman of the APC in Lagos State.

Before her current position, she served as the party’s state assistant woman leader and also held the position of supervisory councillor for agriculture and social services in Badagry West Local Council Development Area.

The APC chieftain has been involved in the party’s activities in Lagos over the years and has played various roles within its structure.

Damilola Sonayon-James holds a master’s degree in social work from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology and a degree in business and human resources management from University of Hull.

She has also worked in human resources, logistics and sustainability management.

Beyond politics, she is the chief executive officer of DGS Chauffeurs and Logistics.

Her emergence completes the APC governorship ticket as the party prepares for the 2027 governorship election in Lagos State.
