Akeredolu accused of supporting opposition as APC supporters protest

Oluwarotimi Akeredolu

Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has been accused of working against the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming elections.

APC supporters in Akoko Northeast local government area of the state took to the streets on Tuesday to protest alleged anti-party activities of Mr Akeredolu.

Akeredolu, however, has repeatedly denied working in favour of Action Alliance (AA) candidates.

The protesters, which included party leaders and youth from the 13 wards of the local government, are demanding that the party leadership sanctions Akeredolu.

APC senatorial leader, Elemeje Idris, and Oloruntoba Johnson of Akoko East Elders Assembly said the Ondo governor was working against APC candidates, Prof. Ajayi Borrofice and Bunmi Ojo.

“Governor Akeredolu and the Caretaker Committee Chairman of the local government, Rafiu Eniayewu with other political appointees are now agents of AA as they distanced themselves from APC and its candidates for the Saturday’s election,” they said.
