The family of late actor Alexx Ekubo has announced his funeral arrangements weeks after confirming his death following a battle with kidney cancer.
In a post shared on the actor’s official Instagram page on Monday, the family released details of the burial programme alongside a photo of the deceased actor.
The statement read, “With profound sorrow, yet gratitude to God for a life so beautifully lived and deeply impactful, we officially announce the funeral arrangements of our beloved husband, son, brother, friend, and colleague, Alexx Ekubo-Okwaraeke.
“The overwhelming outpouring of love, prayers, messages, visits, calls, support, and strength shown to the family during this painful period has been truly humbling. Words cannot fully express our gratitude.
“Alexx was deeply loved, and your kindness continues to remind us that his light, compassion, faith, and impact on so many lives will never be forgotten.
“Though his passing came far too soon, Alexx lived a life marked by love, warmth, generosity, laughter, and an unwavering devotion to God and the people he cherished. His presence filled rooms, lifted hearts, and created memories that will remain with us forever.
“We warmly invite family, friends, colleagues, fans, and well wishers to join us as we honor and celebrate his beautiful life, enduring legacy, and the precious memories he gave us all.”
According to the announcement, a service of songs will hold on June 10 at The Monarch Event Center in Lekki, Lagos, while the wake will take place on June 17 at the family residence in Arochukwu, Abia State.
The funeral service and interment are scheduled for June 18 in Arochukwu, followed by a reception.
The family also urged the public to keep the actor’s wife and relatives in prayers during the mourning period.
Alexx’s family confirmed his death on May 13, revealing that he died at Evercare Hospital in Lagos from complications arising from advanced metastatic kidney cancer after what they described as a brief battle with the illness.
Born Alexx Ikenna Ekubo-Okwaraeke, the actor rose to fame after emerging first runner up at the 2010 Mr Nigeria competition. He later became known for his roles in films such as Weekend Getaway, Lagos Cougars, Omo Ghetto: The Saga and The First Lady.
