Nollywood actor and former Big Brother Africa star, Uti Nwachukwu, has shared details of his emotional experience after hearing reports about the death of his friend and colleague, Alexx Ekubo.
Uti took to his Instagram story on Tuesday to reflect on the moment he received the news, saying Tuesdays may never feel the same again for him.
He said he was initially joking around when he first heard what he thought was a rumour, but later received a phone call that changed his reaction.
“Today makes it a week.
Tuesdays might never be the same again.
Goofing around when the first message came.
I said, Una never taya for rumour? Abegi
Then the phone call came. I answered in my playful tone, but my always happy Gee’s phone was so cold as he said, “I don’t have good news for you”.
I will never forget the second confirmatory phone call as I raced to the hospital.
“The pain comes and goes in waves now, and I still can’t get myself to say goodbye. I pray God consoles all your loved ones and gives us the fortitude we all need”.
He added that the pain of the moment still comes in waves and that he has not been able to fully come to terms with it. He also prayed for comfort for those affected.
Uti had earlier described his emotional state as he processed the news, saying he felt angry, drained, sad and devastated while reflecting on his friendship with Alexx Ekubo.
Alexx Ekubo is a Nollywood actor and model known for his roles in film and television. He was crowned first runner up at Mr Nigeria 2010 and has remained active in the entertainment industry for over a decade.
