Actress Nancy Isime has changed her Instagram profile picture to that of late actor Alexx Ekubo in honour of him.
The actress replaced her display photo with a dark image of the actor days after news of his death shocked Nollywood and fans across the country.
QED.ng reported on Tuesday that the light skinned actor died at the age of 40 after battling cancer.
In a statement released on Wednesday, his family confirmed that he died at Evercare Hospital due to complications arising from advanced metastatic kidney cancer.
The statement read in part, “After a brief but courageous battle, Alexx passed away at Evercare Hospital due to complications arising from advanced metastatic kidney cancer.”
Since the announcement of his death, several Nollywood stars and fans have continued to pay tribute to the actor on social media, remembering his career and personality.
Alexx rose to fame after emerging first runner up at the 2010 Mr Nigeria competition before becoming one of Nollywood’s popular leading actors. He featured in films such as Weekend Getaway, The Bling Lagosians, Omo Ghetto: The Saga and Afamefuna.
The actor had also stayed away from social media for months before news of his illness and death became public.
