Nigerians decry inhuman treatment of NYSC members as INEC postpones election

NYSC

Nigerians have condemned the poor treatment of members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in some parts of the country who were recruited as ad-hoc staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

INEC chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, had in the early hours of Saturday announced the postponement of elections by one week.

Pictures circulating online reveal corps members sleeping out in the open without proper accommodation.

Corps members have also gone on Twitter to lament how poorly they were treated.

‏A twitter user, @AdedejiMajek, wrote that NYSC members recruited as ad-hoc staff of the INEC in Igbo Eze South local government area of Enugu State were left stranded for hours without provision of accommodation.
