Yul Edochie mocks ADC protest, backs Tinubu

Actor and politician Yul Edochie has criticised the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and dismissed its recent protest against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Yul made his position known in a post shared on X on Wednesday.

He also mocked last week’s protest by the ADC against INEC, which the opposition party accused of bias.

He said, “I looked at the ADC led protest & I laughed.

“All the front men in ADC have been in high positions in Government before but they achieved nothing.
Absolutely nothing.

“They made zero impact in the lives of the citizens.

“Na them wan fix Nigeria?

“I stand firmly with President TINUBU.”

Prominent members of the ADC include former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Senate President David Mark, former governor of Osun State Rauf Aregbesola, former Anambra governor Peter Obi, former Kano governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, former Rivers governor Rotimi Amaechi and former Kogi West senator Dino Melaye.

Yul, a supporter of President Bola Tinubu, said the opposition party’s promises to fix Nigeria were not credible.

The protest referenced by Yul took place in Abuja on April 8, when top ADC figures including Atiku, Obi and Kwankwaso led supporters to the INEC headquarters to protest what they described as partisanship by the electoral body.

The demonstration, tagged #OccupyINEC, followed a leadership crisis within the party after INEC suspended recognition of a faction led by David Mark in line with a Court of Appeal directive.

During the protest, party leaders accused INEC of undermining democracy and called for action, including demands related to the commission’s leadership.

Protesters marched to the INEC headquarters carrying placards and later submitted a petition to the commission outlining their grievances.

The crisis has also seen rival factions of the party stage separate protests, each seeking recognition from INEC as the legitimate leadership of the ADC.

INEC has maintained that its actions were based on a court order and said it would await a final judgment before taking further steps on the party’s leadership dispute.
