Emeka Ezeanyagu wedding day affected by INEC

A Twitter user has expressed his devastation at the postponement of the presidential and National Assembly elections to coincide with his wedding day.

Emeka Ezeanyagu was looking forward to getting married at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Asaba, Delta State on February 23, 2019.

The announcement by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, that the elections originally scheduled to hold on February 16 has been postponed by one week has left the would be groom devastated.

“I just woke up to hear that INEC has put a knife in my plans on a day that supposed to be my happiest day. I’ve never been so devastated!” a disappointed Ezeanyagu wrote.

He added that all bookings and arrangements have been fully paid for.

If the elections go ahead on February 23, Ezeanyagu’s dream and that of many others of getting on that day may not come to pass.

The police had earlier announced a 12-hour restriction of vehicular movement from 6am to 6pm for the postponed elections.
