Iwopin Kingdom partners DTML to digitise Okosi Festival

The Kingdom of Iwopin in Ogun State has signed a partnership agreement with Digital Transformation Media Limited (DTML) to promote and digitise the Okosi Festival.

The agreement was signed on May 9 during the Okosi Iwopin Ajidagan 2026 Festival.

Speaking on the partnership, the Liken of Iwopin Kingdom Oba Sunday Agbojo said the move was aimed at preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of the Iwopin people through technology.

According to the monarch, the partnership will help showcase the festival beyond Ogun State and Nigeria while preserving its cultural identity.

He said the initiative would also create opportunities for youths, artisans and tourism in the community.

Entertainment promoter Edi Lawani, who serves as an advisory board member at DTML, said cultural festivals around the world have become platforms for tourism and investment.

He said the partnership would help project the Okosi Festival to a wider audience through digital media and storytelling.

Founder and chairman of DTML Shina Badaru said the project forms part of the company’s Nigeria Heritage Initiative.

According to him, DTML has secured the domain name for the festival’s digital platform, which will support tourism promotion, media engagement and digital content for the annual event.

Badaru added that the initiative would include live streaming, multimedia content and a digital archive to make the festival accessible to audiences across the world.

He also said the project would include training for youths in digital media, content creation and event technology.

Under the agreement, DTML will serve as the exclusive strategic partner for the digitalisation and promotion of the festival, while the Iwopin Kingdom will retain cultural oversight.

The partnership is expected to support the promotion of the Okosi Festival as a cultural tourism event through digital media and international partnerships.
