Tinubu’s reforms will bring prosperity – APC chairman Yilwatda

Nentawe Yilwatda APC national chairman

National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Nentawe Yilwatda has said the economic reforms introduced by President Bola Tinubu will lead to long-term growth and prosperity for Nigeria.

Mr Yilwatda said this in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy Abimbola Tooki after the APC conducted its House of Representatives primary elections across the country.

According to him, the reforms were introduced to address economic challenges affecting productivity, investments and competitiveness in the country.

“The reforms being implemented today are laying the foundation for a more stable, productive and prosperous Nigeria,” he said.

The APC chairman acknowledged the rising cost of living and inflation affecting Nigerians but said the Federal Government was responding through infrastructure projects, support for local industries and other interventions.

He cited reports showing that Nigerian ports handled 1,092 ocean-going vessels in the first quarter of 2026 as a sign of increasing trade and business activities.

“The handling of over 1,092 ocean-going vessels within the first quarter of the year is not an isolated statistic. It reflects increasing commercial confidence, stronger maritime operations, rising export activities and renewed international economic engagement with Nigeria,” he said.

Yilwatda also pointed to Nigeria’s crude oil production, which he said had reached about 99.2 percent of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) quota.

He added that the commissioning of new 330kV transmission lines in Edo State and the addition of 600 megawatts to the national grid were part of efforts to improve electricity supply and support industrial activities.

According to him, investors and manufacturers were also showing increasing interest in sectors such as automobile spare parts, industrial production and energy infrastructure.

Yilwatda urged Nigerians to remain patient and continue supporting the reforms.

“Nigeria is passing through a period of economic rebuilding. While the journey may be challenging, the signs of recovery and national renewal are becoming increasingly visible,” he said.

He added that the APC remained committed to policies aimed at economic growth, investments, infrastructure development and job creation.
