Historian and economist Samuel Osoba is dead.
The Yusufu Bala Usman Institute announced in a statement on Thursday that Mr Osoba died on ay 4 at his residence in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State.
He was 92.
The institute said Osoba dedicated his life to teaching and research, with a focus on Nigeria’s economic system and issues surrounding neo-colonialism and development.
According to the statement signed by the institute’s director Norma Perchonock, Osoba wrote books, academic papers and newspaper articles during his career.
The institute also noted that one of his major works was The Minority Report and Draft Constitution for the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1976, which he co-authored with late historian Yusufu Bala Usman.
It stated that the document contributed to debates and discussions on Nigeria’s political structure and development.
Samuel Osoba was chairman of the Yusufu Bala Usman Institute before his death.
The family is expected to announce funeral arrangements later.
