Afrobeats artiste Portable has welcomed a baby boy with his wife, Omobewaji Ewatomi, shortly after losing a celebrity boxing match to skit maker and online entertainer Carter Efe in Lagos.
The 32-year-old announced the birth on his Instagram page hours after he was defeated by Carter Efe via unanimous decision at the Chaos in the Ring 4 event held at Balmoral Hall.
Reacting to both developments, Portable said, “My wife just gave birth to a bouncing baby boy. I value that more than a belt. You can buy the belt, but not my child.”
He also expressed frustration over the boxing outcome, alleging unfairness in the result. “You can only buy a belt with money, but a child cannot be bought. You people cheated.
They can’t pay the money amounting to the sum of N23 billion. I thought I was going to dance with my belt, but I ended up with my new baby,” he said, while thanking his wife for the delivery.
His wife, Omobewaji, also confirmed the birth, writing “Alhamdullillah,” and sharing posts indicating that the newborn has been named Jamal Iremide. She also described the child as “my little blessing.”
Portable added that the timing of the birth coincided with the boxing event, saying, “While my wife was in labour, I was fighting. She gave birth to a boy… I wanted a third belt for my children; I already have two… You can have the belt.”
The development adds to Portable’s growing family. He already has children from different relationships.
