Osun APC debunks video attributed to Akin Ogunbiyi on Adeleke

Akin Ogunbiyi

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed a viral video suggesting that Akin Ogunbiyi downplayed the party’s chances of unseating Governor Ademola Adeleke.

In a statement issued on Saturday in Osogbo, the party’s spokesperson Kola Olabisi said the video was misleading and had been misinterpreted.

According to the party, Mr Ogunbiyi’s remarks were taken out of context to create a different meaning. It alleged that the video was circulated by members of the Accord Party.

“There’s no doubting the fact that those circulating the content of the message of Dr. Ogunbiyi are up to mischief,” the statement read.

The party said Ogunbiyi remains committed to its activities.

It also questioned why parts of Ogunbiyi’s remarks affirming support for the party were not included in the video.

“Why was the part where Ogunbiyi reiterated his commitment to the party not shown?” the statement added.

The party called on members and the public to ignore the video, stating that it was aimed at creating confusion.

Akin Ogunbiyi, a former governorship aspirant, recently declared his intention to contest the Osun West Senatorial District seat in the 2027 general elections.

He made the declaration at a meeting with party stakeholders in Iwo, where he said his interest was to serve the people of the district.

Ogunbiyi said his decision followed his experience in previous elections and consultations with party leaders.

He added that he would work within the party’s process ahead of the election.
