Ooni of Ife Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi and his wife Olori Mariam have held a naming ceremony for their newborn twins at the Ile-Ife Palace in Osun State.
The event was attended by members of the royal household, traditional chiefs, family members and some of the monarch’s wives, including Olori Aderonke, Olori Temitope and Olori Ashley.
As part of the ceremony, traditional rites associated with the naming of newborns were observed. Items such as bananas, beans, kola nuts, bitter kola, sugarcane, gin, water, cash and dried fish were presented for prayers and blessings for the children.
During the naming ceremony, an elder announced the names given to the twins, beginning with the first child, Taiwo, followed by Kehinde.
The first prince was named Adelowo, Adelanaire, Adejare, Adedunmininu, Ademola and Taiwo Omo Ooni Adeyeye Ojaja II.
The second prince was named Adeleye, Adelanaola, Adejuwon, Adedoyim, Adebola and Kehinde Omo Ooni Adeyeye Ojaja II.
The ceremony also featured performances by traditional music groups, while guests offered congratulations to the monarch and his family.
The celebration continued with a reception inside the palace, where food and drinks were served to guests.
The Ooni recently announced the birth of the twin boys, stating that both Olori Mariam and the children were in good health.
