The ‎Ogun State Government has withdrawn a criminal case of illegal possession of government documents against the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) candidate in the 2007 governorship election, Otunba Dipo Dina, six years after his death.

A High Court in Abeokuta presided over by the Ogun State Chief Judge, Olatokunbo Olapade, on Tuesday adopted the Notice of Withdrawal of Appeal filed by Governor Ibikunle Amosun.

The Ogun State Government told the court that the decision to withdraw the case was largely due to the fact that there was no public interest in the matter.

Dina was arraigned in 2007 alongside three others by then Governor Gbenga Daniel on charges of illegal possession of government documents. ‎

He was killed near Sango Ota while travelling from Abeokuta to his home in Lagos on January 25, 2010. Some suspects were arrested in connection with the brutal murder but nobody has been convicted.
