Teenagers arrested for allegedly beheading girl Rofiat for money ritual in Ogun

Police in Ogun have arrested two teenagers and one other over the death of a girl at the Oke Aregba area of Abeokuta.

The suspects — Wariz Oladehinde, 17, Abdul Gafar Lukman, 19, and Mustakeem Balogun, 20 — were allegedly caught burning the head of the victim simply identified as Rofiat.

Reports say a local community security guard Segun Adewusi saw the boys during the act.

Policemen from Adatan Police Station were alerted and they subsequently got the boys arrested. It is believed Rofiat was killed for money ritual.

A fourth suspect, whose first name is Soliu, is currently at large.

Rofiat, a resident of Idi-Ape, was allegedly lured by her boyfriend Soliu to his room where he held her down and asked one of his friends to cut her with a knife.

“They killed Rofiat, cut her head, packed the headless body in a sack and started burning the head in a pot. They told the police in the presence of a mammoth crowd that they wanted to use it for money ritual,” a policeman who held back his name for not being authorised to speak on the matter told Premium Times.

Ogun police spokesperson Abimbola Oyeyemi said the commissioner of police, Lanre Bankole, had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the homicide section of the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for “discreet” investigation.

Mr Oyeyemi added that Bankole described the alleged action of the suspects as the “height of callousness”.
