Singer Teniola Apata and rapper Olamide Adedeji have released the official video for their new single Zion, which features Nollywood veteran Nkem Owoh in a cameo appearance.
The video was released on Monday, days after the song debuted on 24 April. It has already gained attention and entered Spotify Nigeria’s Top Songs chart at number 36, reflecting the strong reception from listeners.
In Zion, Teni delivers a softer and more reflective sound compared to her usual upbeat style. The song presents love as a place of comfort and emotional stability during uncertain moments. It is expected to appear on her forthcoming EP The Wellness Package, scheduled for release in May, with Zion serving as one of the lead singles.
The music video was directed by Creative Yute and produced by Deeyaso. It runs for nearly four minutes and is presented in a simple and nostalgic style.
It opens with Nkem Owoh’s soft whistling, which sets the tone for the video. The sound recalls his earlier Nollywood screen appearances and creates a reflective mood that continues throughout the visual.
Nkem Owoh appears in calm scenes with a restrained performance that matches the message of the song.
The song centres on the idea of a safe emotional space, where one person brings calm during difficult times. It is positioned as a love song that can be used to express affection, mark special occasions, or reflect on shared memories in relationships.
Teni has said the song was largely freestyled in the studio, which gives it a natural and unforced feel.
Olamide, also known as “Baddo,” delivers a composed verse that balances the emotional tone of the record with his familiar style. His performance blends with Teni’s vocals and highlights the chemistry between both artistes, who have worked together within the industry on different occasions.
Zion adds to Teni and Olamide’s growing list of collaborations in the Nigerian music scene, where both artistes continue to maintain strong individual careers while also joining forces on selected projects.
