Veteran actors Joke Silva, Nkem Owoh, Patience Ozokwo and Afeez Oyetoro were honoured with the AMVCA Icon Award sponsored by MTN at the AMVCA Icons Night held on Thursday at Fame in Ikoyi, Lagos.
Actress Susan Peters also won the Best Dressed award at the event.
The Icons Night formed part of activities lined up ahead of the 12th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards scheduled for Saturday at Eko Hotel and Suites.
The Cultural Night, another event in the AMVCA lineup, is expected to hold on Friday as guests continue preparations for the main awards ceremony.
Comedian Bovi Ugboma and South African actress Nomzamo Mbatha were earlier announced as hosts for the 2026 edition, while Joke Silva is serving as head judge for this year’s awards.
This year’s AMVCA features 32 categories, including 18 jury decided awards and 11 audience voting categories. New categories introduced for the 2026 edition are Best Indigenous Language for North Africa and Central Africa.
Among the productions leading the nominations this year are Gingerrr and The Herd with nine nominations each, followed by To Kill A Monkey with eight nominations and My Father’s Shadow with seven.
