Modu Sheriff: Buhari thrown into mourning again

President Muhammadu Buhari has commiserated with the government and people of Borno State over the death of Modu Sheriff, the father of former governor Ali Modu Sheriff.

Sheriff, the Galadima of Borno Emirate, died on Thursday in a fire incident.

In a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, also condoled the family of Sheriff, the Shehu of Borno, and the entire Borno Emirate Council.

He described the deceased as an “illustrious son and community leader, fondly loved and respected by his people.”

The President, who described the death of his in-law and father in-law to Halima, his daughter, as a personal loss to him, prayed Allah to grant the soul of the departed eternal rest.

He appealed to family, friends and relatives mourning the deceased to maintain social distancing, keep safe and healthy.

Buhari has now lost three persons in less than a week. His Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, died last Friday of coronavirus while his personal bodyguard, Warrant Officer Lawal Mato, died on Tuesday.
